Overview

Upper Mustang or formerly known as the Kingdom of Lo is a remote, rugged and once a forbidden region north of Annapurna. In 1992 the area was finally opened to a limited number of foreign visitors per year. Today Upper Mustang is one of the most sought after biking and trekking destinations in Nepal highlighting more than 1000 year old monasteries, ancient war caves, nomadic tribes, moon-like scenic landscapes dotted by snowy peaks that includes 8160m Mt. Dhaulagiri.

With the opening of a dirt road all the way to the border at Karola Pass (4,660m), Upper Mustang is now proving to be a paradise for adventure

Day 1 :

Arrive in Kathmandu.

We will receive you at the airport and transfer to our hotel in boudhanath. Bikes will be at the hotel the same evening. Meet, greet and tour briefing followed and bike test ride. B&D only.

Day 2 :

Kathmandu to Pokhara. 200km.

Ride to Pokhara. Lunch stop at Kurintar. Traditional Nepali lunch will be served. Arrive in Pokhara's Lakeside and check into our hotel. BLD.

This ride is extreme busy road so must careful in C roads where the vehicles are so fast .. look burn and slow down. So this day we must be very careful ride.

Day 3 :

Pokhara to Marpha. 140 km.

Ride to Marpha via Beni, Tatopani, Kalopani, Marpha, and finally to Marpha the beautiful village. where we spend a night.Marpha offers spectacular views of Nilgiri mountains and the Kaligandaki river valley.

From today Roads are mostly free no traffic so can enjoy the ride more. Altitude 2640m. BLD.

Day 4 :

Marpha to Muktinath 23km

Altitude gain 3880m

Ride to jomson via Muktinath. 12km of blacktopped road to Muktinath temple pilgrimage center from where the mountain views are jaw dropping. Evening visit temple.

Day 5 :

Muktinath to Lo Manthang via Ghar Monastery. 92km Full dirt road.

Ride to Lo Manthang via Lo Gekar's Ghar Monastery. The newly constructed gravel road climbs as high as 3600m with full views of the Annapurna mountain range. Arrive in Lo Manthang 3730m

Day 6 :

Lo Manthang sightseeing.

An easy day. Visit the Walled City of Lo Manthang, Monasteries, etc. Ride to Sky Cave at Choeser Village and ride back.

Day 7 :

Lo Manthang to Marpha. Approx. 100km.

We ride back the same route with tea stop at Sangboche. Lunch stop at chose. Permit checkout at Jomsom.

Day 8 :

Marpha to ulleri (Approx. 100Km):

It is a pleasant relief to be able to tackle the roughest section of the journey in the early morning. Descend to Tatopani, beni,nayapul. After Nayapul we start new joinery to poon hill trip to ulleri up hill approximately 3:40 hrs ride.

Day 9 :

Trek to Gorepani 4 hrs 2860

Today we leave our bikes in ulleri and hike up to Gorepani through waterfalls and rhododendron forest.

Day 10 :

Hike to poon hill early morning 3210m

It takes 45 min to the the poon hill which is the world famous view point it’s offer awesome sunrise and Annapurna and Dhaulagiri 8k mountains views.

Day 11 :

Ride to Pokhara 38 km

After arriving Pokhara half day rest chilling time.

Day 12 :

Back to Kathmandu 200km
