Overview
we hope to give a ray of hope to the impoverished underprivileged in Nepal remote region and monasteries.
Our Medical Camp involves travel into the breath-taking Himalayan foothills to help set up and run a (Sorig medical)Tibetan Traditional medicine and eye clinic in nepal. This trip is run by Himalayan Rays Project and offers a unique and fascinating insight into rural healthcare and it has been running now for many years since 2015 and they have formed very successful health camps
The medical camps we run provide free consultation, treatment and advice medication on prescription. we also collect medical data to help gain a better picture of prevalent health issues suffered by people in the area
We collaborated With Sorig Tibetan Doctors, western doctors,Basic Essence holistic Singapore,Therapist, supervise support volunteers & medical students from the different places.
We also aim to provide some basic medical education to the local people, such as basic first aid skills, oral hygiene education and other primary healthcare advice. The trip is suitable for undergraduates studying medicine and dentistry but also for anyone interested in community health in a region like this. It has clear career benefits but we would like to think this is not the primary motive for coming, the prime incentive is to help create a proper medical support network which has a reach of thousands of people, something that became visibly apparent during the aftermath of the earthquake in May 2015.
The fundraising for this trip pays for the medicines staff and the medical supplies used, and also the running of a community health clinic.
EXPERIENCE NEEDED
For this trip you don’t need to be a fully qualified physician, the programme is designed so that you are giving a valuable service but also gaining fantastic experience. At the same time it is allowing you to interact with local Doctors, Therapist and Pharmacists who can show you specific applications tailored to the local needs. We are not expecting you to be experts in any specific or even related fields, but we will expect you to come back with a great deal of knowledge at the end of it.
The most important characteristics you need are openness, willingness to learn and take part, enthusiasm, initiative and a sense of curiosity. Your experience simply as a person from another culture will give you an enormous amount to share with local people who perhaps have less opportunities than you. The trip can be emotional, and you will meet people whose lives seem almost impossible to live, but your interaction with them will help in ways you can’t measure.
Everest Medical Camp
Region: Everest Trek Grade: Moderate Duration: 15 days trek (2 nights in Kathmandu) Max. Alt: 3790 to 4000 meters Type of Trek: Lodge/Teahouse Trek
Join us in this meaningful, inspirational and spiritual adventure to the Everest region of Himalayas. Trekking in the Everest region starts from Lukla (2840m), a much higher altitude than most treks, taking you straight to the lap of the mountains. This region contains 3 of the world’s 10 highest peaks namely, Lhotse, Cho Oyu & of course, Mount Everest.  Most villages are mere yak pastures, and you are mostly out in the wild. High mountain pastures are often dotted with turquoise lakes combined with deep gorges & glacier ice that makes you feel like you are on ‘top of the world. This is also the homeland of Sherpa people, renowned world over for their good humor, hospitality, strength & exceptional mountaineering skills. You can explore many Buddhist monasteries and stupas along the way. Breathtaking nature along the route will keep you spellbound with each and every step of the journey. Medical camps are organized during this trek to offer Sowa Rigpa consultations and therapies to the villagers, monks and nuns in the remote regions where there is lack of modern facilities and adequate treatments. We will end the extraordinary journey with a visit to Halesi-Maratika Caves, a venerated pilgrimage site for Hindus, Buddhists and Kirat communities alike, a blessing like no other.
You are welcome to discover the Himalayas, natural beauty of Nepal!
